How to archive/delete server logs in Kiwi Syslog
Kiwi Syslog is a convenient tool to collect all your server logs in one place. However, some servers send very loud logs which take up a ton of your system space.
An easy solution for this is to set up a schedule in Kiwi Syslog. The schedule routinely archives and then deletes your server logs. Archiving server logs is a great storage-friendly option if you have retention policies to meet at your organization.
How to archive server logs
- On Kiwi Syslog Service Manager, go to File > Setup.
- Right-click Schedules and select “Add new schedule”.
3. Select Task Type as “Archive” and Task Trigger as “On a schedule”. Adjust how frequent you want Kiwi to archive your data (in the example below, it runs every Saturday at midnight).
4. Under the Source tab, specify the source location Kiwi will look into for archiving the logs.
5. Indicate where the archived logs will be stored in under the Destination tab.
6. Under the Archive Options tab, specify the zip type for the archived files. Click Apply.
How to delete server logs
- Under Setup, create another New Schedule.
- This time choose Task Type as “Clean-up”. Adjust the frequency for log deletion (in the example below, it happens every Saturday at midnight).
3. Under the Source tab, specify the Source location Kiwi will look into for the logs. Click Apply.
